Learn the history, benefits and evidence-basis supporting lateral movement training with slide boards. Modern exercise equipment (e.g. bikes, rowing machines and treadmills) nearly exclusively focus on forward and backward movements (known as the sagittal plane) causing muscular imbalances, increased risk of musculoskeletal injuries and limitations to athletic performance. Since the 70's, slide boards have been a trusted training tool for high-caliber athletes, coaches and physical therapists and have served as the antidote to this common training pitfall by adding frontal plane (side-to-side) exercises into their fitness programming. After completing this program, you will understand how to use the slide board for lateral movement training to create a well-rounded routine for multigenerational users in a 1-on-1, small group and large group fitness setting.

Upon completion, trainers can receive continuing education credits, which can be applied to ACE (.8 credits), NASM (.8 credits), AFAA (8 credits), and NCSF (4 credits).
